Yania Campbell
Yania Campbell is a Senior, Political Science Honors student at Virginia State University (VSU), from Brooklyn, New York and serves as the VSU Student Government Association President for the 2022-2023 academic year. Her mission and goal is to serve Virginia State University and her community to the best of her capacity. Yania is a youth activist, community organizer, and student leader whose life goal is to educate the next generation about social and political issues.
Yania is the founder and co-founder of HBCUYOUTH, a non-profit organization established in 2020 to promote HBCU culture and give back to her community, bridging communities and students through networking. She has organized Voter Registration Drives, Back-to-School giveaways and provided internships and scholarships to her HBCU family.
Additionally, Yania is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Over the Summer of 2022, she served as a Congressional Intern on Capitol Hill. She is also a Campus Vote Project Fellow, John Mercer Langston cohort graduate, and a Thurgood Marshall Scholar. Yania understands how critical it is to be the change we wish to see in our communities. Yania has additionally served as VSU’s Miss NAACP, 2020-2021, the SGA Vice President of Research and Economic Development, Vice President of the Association of Political Science,2021-2022, SGA Senator at Large, 2020-2021, and has garnered over 3,000+ hours of Community Service. Through civic engagement and service, she hopes to continue to inspire, organize, and mentor the next generation.
